What does diecast mean?
Diecast (or die cast, or die-cast) is a general term used to describe the process of giving a defined shape into a mold to either molten metal (lead, zinc alloy) or plastic. Depending on the material used, the manufacturing processes differ.
In order to give a particular shape to molten metal, such as diecast model cars, one needs to inject it at a high pressure into a heavy and strong metal mold. This procedure is named injection molding.
For the plastic and depending on the properties of the material it can either be molten and injected into heavy molds or molten and poured with a dipper into a soft silicone mold. This is the process used to create scale model cars in resin.
