Saab 9-5 Aero

Saab Automobile AB sadly declared bankruptcy in 2011 and could only produce 11 302 of its flagship Saab 9-5 NG Sedan. The Saab 9-5 is an executive car produced by Saab AB from 1997 till the very last car which came out of the factory in the spring of 2011. Speaking of the factory, you certainly know that it is still running but under the name of NEVS, and still in Trollhättan, Sweden. NEVS stands for National Electric Vehicle Sweden and is owned by a Chinese Group. They are planing to develop and sell electrical vehicles for the Chinese market only for now, but later throughout the entire world. Their assembly plant is located in Fuzhou, China and their model is based on the Saab 9-3 platform.

But let’s learn a little bit about this amazing Saab 9-5 NG car and specifications:

Proud successor of the Saab 9000, also reproduced at scale 1 18 and available in our store here, the Saab 9-5 Sedan was meant to launch a new and modern era for the Saab brand. It should have worn the hero cape of the company and be its savior. The exterior body lines are completely new and adapt modern and more rounded aerodynamic shapes. Its interior has also been totally redefined and leather was a standard equipment. At the time of its launch it was featuring a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine developing 300 HP (295 kW) as a standard power train in Aero trims. Obviously it was planed to come in Linear, Vector or Aero trims, with a choice of less powered engines, manual or automatic six speed gearboxes. Customers who would have chosen to buy the Aero version would have benefited of a more sportier aerodynamic package with large silver surrounding on the fog lights and other bits, different wheels and a completely new adaptive suspension kit. If you were a technology geek you would be pleased with a nice Head-up Display and even modern safety features like the Traction and Stability Control and Lane Departure Warning. Even if the Saab 9-5 NG was completely new in bodywork, you can easily spot that this is a Saab, when you came across it on the streets, due to its recognizable three-hole nose. This shows you how the designers kept the strong Saab legacy alive.

DNA Collectibles could not resist to replicate it in high quality resin at 1/18 scale.

      Dear Kees van Braak,

      Thank you for contacting us.
The arctic white color was selected by the collectors when we asked for the expected color by a poll.
So unfortunately, we won’t produce this model in black.

      Best Regards

      The DNA Team

The 9-5 NG sedan was far more popular and known i metalic grey and has typical colors such as the Fjord blue, the Java and Oak brown…I can’t understand how you could chose that so bland and dull white color 🙁
After the red color for the 9-4X insted of the far more popular white, after the ice siler color for the 9-5NG Combi that no pic exists now this white color for the 9-5NG sedan really sucks 🙁
For the price, (far from Ottomobile) why don’t you offer the choice so we can chose between several colors?

      Bonjour,
      Bien cordialement.
      L’équipe DNA
