Volkswagen Passat W8 DNA Collectibles

DNA Collectibles is as usual attracted by unconventional cars and could not resist to reproduce a W8 engined car. The Volkswagen Passat is a very wide car family range manufactured by Volkswagen since 1973, and today this car has reached its eighth generation! From B1 to B8 versions, the Passat is still very popular all around the world.

DNA Collectibles decided to reproduce the Volkswagen Passat B5 W8 Sedan, more specifically the Passat facelift B5.5 / Typ 3BG, so let’s focus on this magnificent version.

The Passat B5.5 / Typ 3BG production started in late 2000, few changing occurred comparing to the previous version like on the chrome trim, the bumpers, the projector-optic headlights or the tail lights. In 2001, a luxury and more powerful version was launched with a 4.0-litre W8 engine producing 275 hp (202 kW) / 370 N.m and included standard 4motion all-wheel drive.

This is also interesting to note that the engine used for the VW Passat W8 Sedan was a test bed for the future new W engine technology to come and would eventually give birth to the W12 used for the Phaeton, the Audi A8, and the Bentley Continental GT; and then the W16 used to the amazing Bugatti Veyron.

A master piece reproduced at the 1/18 scale by DNA Collectibles that you can shop in our store here.

We found for you a quite interesting review of the Volkswagen Passat W8 Sedan that we reproduced, published by JMSpeedshop on Youtube on June 1st 2018. It last 17 minutes but after watching it, you’ll know everything you need to know about the car’s design and performance. Enjoy!
