Subaru Brat DNA Collectibles

Do you know other cars that have such different names as the Subaru BRAT?

* Subaru 284 (United Kingdom)
* Subaru Brumby (Australia)
* Subaru Shifter
* Subaru MV
* Subaru Targa

But don’t be lost, they all refer to the same car known as BRAT which acronym means “Bi-drive Recreation All-terrain Transporter” manufactured from 1978 to 1994 in mainly 3 plants: Ōta (Japan), Pretoria (South Africa), and Waitara (New Zealand).

Believe it or not, but this Japanese car was never officially sold in Japan but only for export purpose, especially in the United States of America, and later (from 1987) exported to Europe, Australia, Latin America and New Zealand until 1994.

Did you know that former President Ronald Reagan owned a 1978 Subaru BRAT? Nowadays, his car has been restored and exposed at President Reagan’s ranch near Santa Barbara, California.
