The Saab 9-2X Aero: a Subaru Impreza Wagon converted into a Saab car at 1/18 scale?
The Saab 9-2X Aero is also known as “Saabaru”… Do you know why?
This car was born during GM (General Motors) ownership of Saab, and at that time, GM also owned Subaru! Do you see it coming? The crazy idea of developing a Saab based on a Subaru body slowly popped up, and that’s how the Subaru Impreza Wagon chassis was used to develop the Saab 9-2X. But don’t misunderstand us, the Saab 9-2X isn’t just a Subaru Impreza rebadged with a Saab logo! This car was then enhanced and adapted to perfectly fit Saab’s philosophy. But we will get to the details later in this description.
Produced in Ōta, Kantō, Japan, the Saab 9-2X was exclusively commercialized in North America. The 227hp 2.0L turbocharged engine is the same as the Impreza WRX, as well as the five-speed manual gear and the AWD which came standard.
The unique identity of this Saab 9-2X was a trigger for DNA Collectibles to replicate this piece of history in a beautiful 1/18 scale model car.
